Glasscraft is a stained glass studio that is a part of Orangeville history. The original Glasscraft shop was opened by Bill Adler & Mae Adler in January 1979 on Mill Street in Orangeville. It was later moved to its current location at 159 Broadway in 1985. In 2009 a second shop was opened in the nearby town of Grand Valley.
Bill Adler is a 1966 graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design (A.O.C.A) in Toronto, where he focused on drawing and painting, and in his final year he learned stained glass through an elective course. In 1978, Bill was asked to teach stained glass for an adult education night school class in Shelburne, Ontario, and the impetus to open the initial Glasscraft shop was to have stained glass supplies for his students. For over 40 years Glasscraft has been an iconic and important business in the the region as a source for stained glass supplies, classes, workshops, as well as restoration and installation.
